This attractive, knowing, husky-voiced young actress (and former political science major) demonstrated unusual poise and ability-along with an uncommonly natural acting style-during her first year in movies: as a restless young woman in Vision Quest a too-cool young sculptress in Martin Scorsese's After Hours and a convincing femme fatale in the otherwise abysmal Gotcha! (all 1985 releases). While her turn as a sophisticated art-lover in 1988's The Moderns brought Fiorentino additional acclaim, she went on to appear in such films as Queens Logic (1991) and Chain of Desire (1992). Fiorentino finally got the breakthrough role she deserved in The Last Seduction (1994), playing one of the most conniving, relentless femme fatales in screen history. In 1995 she appeared in Jade and The Desperate Trail.
