Appealing brunette whose distinctive face conveys maturity and youthful sultriness equally well. Her first parts came in The Dorm That Dripped Blood (1981), The Initiation (1983), and VisionQuest (1985). Then Rob Reiner cast her as the straitlaced collegiate won over by John Cusack in the betterthan-average teen comedy The Sure Thing (1985). She's been good in her subsequent film roles, but the films themselves haven't measured up: Modern Girls (1986), Mel Brooks' Spaceballs (1987), which cast her as a Druish princess, Last Rites (1988), Gross Anatomy, The Fly II and Staying Together (all 1989), the last a little-seen comedy-drama directed by Lee Grant. In 1992 she won a berth on the hit TV series "Melrose Place." (1992-1999)
